The Hottest commemorative coin program
that the US Mint has put out in some time is the Statehood
Quarters program. Commemorating the 50 States in order of
which they became state. Each state has their own design
commemorating what their state truly is all about.
This program, started in 1999,
is an excellent way to get someone interested collecting coins.
Not only do you get a nice coin that represents a particular
state, people can associate what each of the states are about
and what their history holds. Remember, coin collecting
just isn't about collecting coins, well it is, but each of those
coins holds a history about them. When they were made,
where the were made, what was going on around them when
they were made, the Statehood Quarters are no different.
So start your Statehood Quarters collection today and see how
many you can get. Remember that each state came out with 2
coins, one minted in Philadelphia (P mint mark) and one in
Denver (D mint mark). So look in your change today and see
which quarter you have and start building your collection.
My Online Auction has plenty of
auctions bidding on Statehood Quarters. See if there are
some there that you need to complete your collection.
Never know, may find those hard to get coins.
Here is the issue dates, when each of
the coins were released into circulation and also when they
became states themselves. Statehood Quarter Release Dates
